Hello! Welcome to Transciencia and thank you for stopping by my blog on the history of Latin American scientists. In the early 1990s, I participated in the development of a panel discussion on Hispanic scientists as part of the Library of Congress’s commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month. At the time, it was difficult to find information on the topic. Now, with advances in the Internet, it is easier, but not easy. I hope that this blog will become a place to find such information.
Knowing of my life-long interest in both Latin America and the sciences, my family launched this blog on the History of Science in Latin America to celebrate my 60th birthday. In it I will write essays about science and technology in Latin America and about Hispanic/Latino scientists, starting with the one I know best, my husband, Dr. Ivan Vera.
